Surabaya, December 2024 – Temasek Foundation has announced the launch of the “SCALE”, Specialists’ Community Action and Leadership Exchange, a student exchange initiative aimed at fostering cross-cultural understanding, leadership, and technical education among youth in the ASEAN region.
The programme, PENS in partnership with ITE College West, seeks to encourage appreciation of diverse socio-political, cultural, and technological issues through structured academic learning and Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) project development.
At this time, 21 ITE College West Singapore students and lecturers came to Indonesia, PENS Proudly to become a host university of this SCALE programme.
The event kicked off with a warm welcome ceremony attended by key representatives from PENS, alongside enthusiastic students eager to embark on this enriching journey.
On the First day, students Explore PENS Laboratory to observe and learn about different technological practices and innovations in PENS. This tour goes to several places of a Robotics team laboratory, Sustainability Car Laboratory, and Motion Tracking Laboratory
Second day, The participants introduced renewable energy in Indonesia, and practiced producing wind turbines with Ms. Arini.
After that, they attended PENSASI, a technology fair in PENS that introduced edging technology, Virtual Reality and Sustainable energy technology.
First midweek, the focus shifted to Industrial visit and outside activity. Students are visiting Tea Plantation and Factory,
PLTA Sengguruh (Hydroelectric Power Plant), and UMKM Kayavit (Vegetable and Fruit Snack factory) to be introduced to Indonesian Industries.
First day of the second week of the SCALE programme, students participated in a workshop focused on Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) and automation.
This hands-on learning experience provided them with invaluable skills in modern technology and industrial automation on TVET project development
On the third day of the second week, students immersed themselves in a Saman dance workshop. These activities aimed to foster cultural understanding and appreciation among the participants.
The programme concluded with a closing ceremony where Singapore participants presented their activity outcomes and shared their experiences
and certificates of participation were awarded, celebrating the new friendships and valuable knowledge gained during the exchanges
