Pandemic will not hold us to teach and share our knowledge with others. This Friday, on July 3rd, 2020, PENS International Cooperation Office was collaborating with PENS Language and Culture Centre held an International Sharing Session with three panelists from three countries to discuss the teaching method that others use during this Pandemic especially in teaching English. This webinar also held to commemorate the 32nd anniversary of Politeknik Elektronika Negeri Surabaya.
PENS English lecturer, Dias Agatha, moderated the International sharing session with 500+ total participants on cisco Webex and YouTube Live. In this sharing session, PENS International Cooperation Office invited Prof. Ai Takahashi from Iwate University, Dr. Christine N. Ferrer from Tarlac Agricultural University, Philippines, and Ms. Puspa a/p Perumal, M.A.
Prof. Ai Takahashi from Iwate University discussed a topic about the challenges in Teaching EFL Online Classes during Pandemic. Prof Iwate explained about the teaching method that Iwate University used during the Pandemic and what kind of problem that Iwate University faced during the Pandemic. One of the problems that Prof. Ai Takahashi stated earlier was the internet connection.
While Dr. Christine N. Ferrer explained the same topics with the previous speaker, but Dr. Christine stated that during this Pandemic, her university used various types of platforms such as google classroom and zoom to teach online and google form to assess the student. Ms. Puspa explained about how the students should embrace the change of the teaching method to an online system using various type of Learning Management System or LMS.
Both three panelist in this sharing session shared their resources to increase the capability of the participant in terms of English, such as some literature from a book or some website reference for English such as the British Council website.
